Privacy policy

Draft. This policy was written for a simple, offline iOS utility and a static marketing website. Have it reviewed by legal counsel before relying on it for regulatory compliance.

This policy describes how Appcellent ("we", "us") handles information in connection with the Protractor — Angle, Slope & Level Measure iOS application (the "App") and the website at protractorapp.com (the "Site"). Our goal is simple: we collect as little as possible, and we never sell personal data.

The short version

  • The App works entirely on your device. It does not require an account, does not transmit sensor or camera data off-device, and core measuring works offline.
  • The Site does not use advertising trackers or set cookies. If privacy-preserving web analytics are enabled, they are cookieless and anonymized.
  • We do not sell or rent any information to third parties.

1. Information collected by the App

The App reads your device's motion sensors (accelerometer and gyroscope) to measure angles, slope, and level. With your permission it uses the camera for camera-based angle measuring; camera frames are processed on-device to display the measurement and are not stored, transmitted, or shared. The App does not request access to your contacts or location.

Standard App Store telemetry (crash reports, download counts, aggregate usage statistics) may be collected by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy. We receive only aggregated, anonymized reports and cannot tie them back to an individual.

2. Information collected by the Site

The Site is a static marketing website. It does not require registration and does not set tracking cookies. Your browser may make standard requests (HTML, CSS, images, fonts) served via our content delivery network (Cloudflare), which may process your IP address for abuse-prevention and routing purposes under Cloudflare's privacy terms.

If we enable Cloudflare Web Analytics, aggregate page-view information is collected without using cookies or fingerprinting and without transmitting IP addresses to us.

3. Contact form and email

If you email us at protractor@appcellent.co, we will see your email address and the content of your message. We use that information only to respond and retain it no longer than necessary.

4. Third-party services

  • Apple App Store. Distribution and in-app purchases (if any) are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
  • Cloudflare. Hosting and content delivery for the Site.
  • Self-hosted fonts. Typefaces are bundled with the site — no third-party font CDN is used.
  • Google Analytics 4. Aggregate, IP-anonymized web analytics (page views and a custom download_click event for "Download the App" buttons). Google may set first-party analytics cookies; you can opt out by enabling Do Not Track in your browser or by using Google's opt-out add-on.
  • Google Ads conversion measurement. When you arrive from a Google ad and click a "Download the App" button, a Google Ads tag records that click as an aggregate conversion so we can measure ad performance. It does not identify you personally; it is governed by Google's privacy policy.
  • AppsFlyer (via OneLink). The "Download the App" buttons route through an AppsFlyer attribution link before opening the App Store. AppsFlyer records the click for install-attribution purposes; details are governed by AppsFlyer's privacy policy.

5. Children

The App and the Site are general-audience products. They are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (for example, the EU/UK under GDPR or California under CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Because we collect so little, most requests can be fulfilled quickly. Email protractor@appcellent.co to exercise any of these rights.

7. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we process. No system is perfectly secure; please contact us immediately if you believe you have found a vulnerability.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new "Last updated" date at the top of the page.
